About the Cabri G2
Cabri G2’s history is the story of a dream of technological innovation and a passion for helicopters that came true. A dream and that passion spanning almost 20 years have culminated in the development of Cabri G2: a lightweight, two-seat helicopter with a totally unique and amazing performance in the air.
The Cabri G2 was developed by Bruno Guimbal who was active with the French helicopter manufacturer Eurocopter for many years. The design of Cabri started as a project while he was working as a helicopter engineer. The maiden flight of the prototype took place in Marignane, southern France in April, 1992.
In 2000, Bruno Guimbal decided to leave his position at Eurocopter to pursue his dream and develop what is today the Cabri G2. On March 31st 2005, today's modern Cabri first flew in Aix-en-Provence, and on December 14th 2007, Cabri G2 obtained formal certification from the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency). Cabri G2 is the first helicopter in the world, equipped with a piston engine, to be certified for commercial operations in accordance with EASA’s stringent requirements.
Like many other French helicopter models, the Cabri G2 is named after an animal. A mountain goat living in the Alps, ‘Cabri’ is a fitting name for a persistent and energetic helicopter, designed with a love for innovative solutions and a passion for the indescribable sense of freedom that finds itself in the pilot’s heart while in ascent.
Freedom has no limit.
